Owner Dan of Taft’s farm, recites the events that took place about 20 years ago. At that time a call came in from Taft’s Farm to Abbott’s Limousine, making 2 dozen ear of corn, packed in dry ice in a Styrofoam container, the passenger here. This corn was to be picked that morning, placed in the Limousine and head out to meet the Concord which was flying out of Logan, to London’s Heathrow Airport.

I personally remember this trip, as I drove the limoisine for this V.I.P. to it’s destination and still marvel at the idea behind this special order. As it turns out, the fresh ears of corn, were to be consumed by Sarah Ferguson, the princess of the United Kingdom, and her friend. This businessman friend could have been at the root of the final break-up. The biggest chuckle Dan has when he tells this story comes at the end, when he asks, “can you guess the name of the corn at that time? ”Saying that I cant, he replied, “Kiss and Tell” The laughing then continues. The rest is history as they say.
I was very happy that I stopped by Park square this Saturday morning to buy Taft’s Heirloom tomatoes. Not only did I get some of the finest in the world, I got to hear this story, which was told with great enthusiasm.

I remember seeing this in the newpaper that was sent to me from the Berkshires. I was happy to see my nephew, Paul, being the ‘child of the corn’, and also, the driver of same. It was exciting to see a limo on the tarmack next to a private plane, with my nephew with the delivery. Happy days. Daniel
It is corn season again so we visited Taft Farm to get the local corn today. It was wonderful to see owner Dan filling the bin of corn on the cob. Although this was not the Kiss and Tell variety made more famous by the extraordinary “Corn takes a ride on the Concord”, it was the first batch of Berkshire fresh of the year and delicious.
Happy Summer
