The beat goes on at Abbott’s Limo in the Berkshires as we approach peak foliage. Colors are rapidly beginning to appear on the mountain slopes and in some of the valleys. Third Thursday Block Parties are always a great way to kick off an evening in Pittsfield capped off by dinner at one of the many great restaurants, pubs, diners and other eateries in downtown and the greater Pittsfield area.
Every Friday of October you can enjoy guided hikes on Mt. Greylock starting at 7:30 am at the Visitor’s Center at 30 Rockwell Road in Lanesborough that you can finish off with the optional breakfast at Bascom Lodge on the peak of Mt. Greylock.
In south county Monument Mountain is a superb place to visit for grand vistas of the painted mountain slopes of the Berkshires and the neighboring Taconic Range to the west in New York State.
In Lenox you can enjoy rides on the Berkshire Scenic Railway October 22nd, 23rd, 29th & 30th when you take the “Peanuts Great Pumpkin Patch Express”. You’ll glide along the Housatonic River and through the technicolor scenery on your way to the Great Pumpkin Patch where Snoopy will be hanging out and you’ll enjoy concerts by the ever-popular David Grover.
October 21st & 28th you can visit the campus of Williams College in Williamstown to enjoy the Hopkins Observatory Planetarium Show. Every Saturday in October you can enjoy Farm & Forest Trail Hikes at the Hancock Shaker Village just west of downtown Pittsfield after which you can enjoy a traditional Shaker Supper in the Brick Dwelling by candlelight.
