Abbott’s Livery and Limousine Service invites you to the snow-covered Berkshires this January to enjoy some great skiing.
Unlike last year, snow came early to the Berkshires in 2012 and it has kept coming into the new year. A fresh blanket of almost 8 inches of fluffy powder greeted the new year and temperatures have stayed in the low 30’s since then so the conditions are excellent.
The low temperatures have also allowed our ski areas to continue to make fresh snow every day and night. All of our ski areas, Otis Ridge in Otis, Ski Butternut in Great Barrington, Jiminy Peak in Hancock, Catamount Ski Area in Hillsdale, N.Y., and Bousquet Mountain in Pittsfield, are reporting plenty of snow and great conditions. Each ski area has new updated information on their conditions just give them a call.
The Berkshires also offer a plethora of peaceful and dramatic cross-country venues from formal ski areas to state parks. For more formal cross country ski areas contact the Cross Country Ski Area Association for more information
There are also exceptional opportunities for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in places like Bartholomew’s Cobble in Ashley Falls, Card Pond in Great Barrington, Kennedy Park in Lenox, Bucksteep in Washington, Cheshire Reservoir, and the Mount Greylock State Reservation. All of these locations offer marked trails with dramatic scenery far beyond the bustle and noise of crowds.
The weather forecast for the first two weeks of January calls for continuing low temperatures and a scattering of new snow so the current conditions are sustainable.
When the ski day is over the Berkshire also has a complete range of lodging options from the rustic to the sumptuously luxuriant where you can warm up next to fire and rest in comfort.
Abbott’s Livery and Limousine Service, the premier personal transportation service in the Berkshires, can help you with all of your ground transportation needs into, around and back home from the Berkshires. With our updated fleet we stand at the ready to make your visit a memorable one.
